A few minutes with Mark.
Editor draft · placeholder content seeded from Mark's bio while we collect the full interview.
What brought Mark to the Art League?
An experienced sculptor and instructor with worldwide accolades and a dedication to his students that's also world-class. Mark has been on our teaching roster since 2019 — 7 years now — working out of our Murray Hill studio.
How would you describe their practice?
Mark's work centers on stone sculpture and the patient material study it asks for. As Mark puts it: "The block has a piece inside it. My job is to slow down enough to hear what it wants to be."
What can students expect in the classroom?
Mark runs a working studio more than a lecture. Sessions open with a short demonstration, then dedicated practice time with one-on-one feedback, and close with a brief, generous group critique. No experience is required; returning students pick up where they left off.
