What brought William to the Art League?

A draftsman with twenty years of life drawing under his belt. Teaches figure drawing and quick-study workshops. William has been on our teaching roster since 2017 — 9 years now — working out of our Murray Hill studio.

How would you describe their practice?

William's work centers on figure drawing and the patient material study it asks for. As William puts it: "Gesture first. The rest is just refinement."

What can students expect in the classroom?

William runs a working studio more than a lecture. Sessions open with a short demonstration, then dedicated practice time with one-on-one feedback, and close with a brief, generous group critique. No experience is required; returning students pick up where they left off.
